When You Should Change Your Levoit Air Filter

The filter inside your Levoit air purifier is an important part of how the machine works. In order for the air purifier to work at its best, the filter needs to be replaced regularly. Your Levoit air purifier will light up the check filter indicator button when it is time to change your filter, but you don’t have to wait for that. Keep reading to learn more about how often to change your Levoit air purifier filter and the steps to do it.

Why Is It Important To Change The Levoit Air Purifier Filter Often?

Air purifiers like those made by Levoit help remove contaminants from the air like allergens and indoor toxins. They do this by using one or more filters to help remove these particles from the air. Overtime, these filters will become clogged with dust and debris. When that happens, your air purifier won’t work as well. If you start to notice that the air feels stuffier or that your machine seems to have to work harder than normal, it is likely that you need to replace the filter in your air purifier.

How Often Should You Change Your Levoit Air Purifier Filter?

In addition to cleaning pre-filter at least once a month, Levoit advises that the air filter should be replaced every 6 to 8 months. If you use your Levoit air purifier very often, you should change it closer to six months. Otherwise you can probably stretch it to 8 or even 12 months. If you are using the air purifier in a location with bad air quality and lots of pollution, you’ll want to replace the filter more frequently. People with asthma or allergies may also want to consider swapping out the old filter for a new one more often.

Most Levoit air purifier models will have a ‘Check Filter’ indicator light that will turn red to let you know when your filter needs to be changed. The ‘Check Filter’ indicator light looks different depending on the model you have. On some, it will look like a cylinder with two vertical lines in it. On others, it will look like two vertically oriented rectangles with horizontal lines. You can also change the filter before this light turns on if you want.

Genuine Levoit Air Filter Replacements vs Knock Off Brands

My advice is to always use a genuine Levoit air purifier filter replacement for best results. They may be a little more expensive than the generic copy cat products that claim to be compatible with your air purifier, but you know that they will work. With knock off products not made by Levoit, you run the risk that they won’t fit properly in the unit, may not work as well and may not last as long. Save yourself the hassle and get a Levoit branded replacement filter first.
