Winix Air Purifier Red Light Meaning

The filter inside your Winix air purifier is an important part of how the machine works. In order for the air purifier to work at its best, the filter needs to be replaced regularly. Your Winix air purifier will display a red light behind the check filter indicator button when it is time to change your filter. Winix Air Purifier Check Filter Indicator Red Light Blinking

The ‘Check Filter’ indicator light looks like a 3D square with an arrow pointing left and right. When this light on your Winix air purifier turns red and starts blinking or flashing, it is time to replace your filter.

In addition to cleaning pre-filter every 14 days, the filter should be replaced approximately every 12 months. The Winix air purifier red light may turn on before 12 months depending on the level of use and the air quality of the environment it is in. The Winix HEPA filter cannot be washed so you will need a new one when the red light turns on. Always use a genuine Winix air filter replacement for best results.

How To Replace Your Levoit Air Filter When The Red Light Appears

Follow these simple steps to replace the air filter in the Winix purifier. Find the instructions and genuine replacement filters for the latest Winix air purifier models below.

Winix C535

  • Gently pull forward on the upper edge of the front panel to remove it.
  • Remove and discard your old HEPA filter and activated carbon filter.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

A231 or A230 Models

  • Turn the Winix air purifier upside down.
  • Grab the handle on the bottom filter cover and turn it counter-clockwise to remove cover.
  • Take out the old HEPA filter and discard it.
  • Install the new filter top side down (the side that shows the opening). Be sure that it is fully inserted. Once inserted, you should see the bottom of the filter which is solid.
  • Replace the filter cover and turn it clockwise to close.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

Winix 5500-2

  • Gently pull forward on the upper edge of the front panel to remove it.
  • Remove and discard the used HEPA filter and washable AOC carbon filter.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep and the red light will reset.

Model 5300-2

  • Grab the upper edge of the front panel. Gently pull forward to remove it.
  • Remove and discard your old HEPA filter and activated carbon filter.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

Winix 9800

  • Gently pull forward on the upper edge of the front panel to remove it.
  • Remove and discard the used HEPA filter and carbon filter.
  • Install the new HEPA filter. Insert a new carbon filter into the pre-filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

Model AM80

  • Gently pull forward on the upper edge of the front panel to remove it.
  • Remove and discard the used HEPA filter and washable AOC carbon filter.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

Winix AM90

  • Grab the upper edge of the front panel. Gently pull forward to remove it.
  • Remove and discard your old HEPA filter and activated carbon filter.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Reattach the front panel ensuring the latch along the bottom is in the right position.
  • While the air purifier is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

Winix HR900

  • Grasp the upper edge of the front panel. Gently pull forward to remove it. Make sure to release the latch at the lower edge of the panel when removing it.
  • Press the tabs on the top edge of the pre-filter and then remove it.
  • Install the new filters, placing the carbon filter in between the pre-filter and the HEPA filter.
  • Replace the front panel. Insert the latch into the bottom edge, then rotate the panel up to the top of the air purifier. It should magnetically snap into place.
  • While the unit is on, use a paperclip to hold the filter reset button for five seconds. You will then hear a beep.

How To Reset Winix Air Purifier Filter Red Light
