Filters are an important part of how every air purifier works. Knowing how to change your Blueair filter is important if you want to keep your air purifier working at its best. Keep reading to learn how often you should replace a Blueair filter and what steps to take to change it.

What Is The Difference Between The Filter and Pre-Filter?

Your Blueair air purifier has two filters. The first or outermost filter is called the pre-filter. This traps particles before they can get to the finer and more effective main filter. The pre-filter just needs to be cleaned regularly, not replaced. The main filter, however, cannot be cleaned and does not to be replaced.

Why Is It Important To Change The Blueair Air Purifier Filter?

Air purifiers like those made by Blueair help remove contaminants from the air like allergens and indoor toxins. They do this by using one or more filters to help remove these particles from the air. Overtime, these filters will become clogged with dust and debris. When that happens, your air purifier won’t work as well. If you start to notice that the air feels stuffier or that your machine seems to have an odor or needs to work harder than normal, it is likely that you need to replace the filter in your Blueair purifier.

How Often Should You Change And Replace The Blueair Filter?

For most people using a Blueair air purifier in an environment with normal pollution levels, the filter should change and be replaced every 6 months. Many Blueair models will have a red or orange alert light to remind you that it is time to replace your air filter. Some even have a yellow light that comes on a month earlier to remind you to order a replacement filter. If you have more air pollution (like from cigarette smoke), you should replace your filter more frequently to keep it working at its best.
